Robertson Quay is located along the Singapore River, just 5 minutes walk along the river from Clarke Quay. It is mostly residential though some good restaurants and cafes over looking the river.

The land around Robertson Quay was originally mud flats and mangrove swamps. In the mid 19th century, when Singapore was developing, the land in Robertson Quay was reclaimed and was named after Dr J Murray Robertson, a prominent Municipal Councilor.

Roberston Quay was used for storage and industry. There were a large number of Godowns (warehouses), boat yards and various industries including sawmills, ricemills and engineering workshops.
